Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO Review

Malwarebytes can detect all known threats and most stealth malware, or infections that actively hide their presence on your system. Its removal effectiveness is also decent, with the ability to remove most of the threats it detects. The infections the software cannot effectively remove are typically on the most heavily infected systems, so lagged and bogged down with tough malware that they are unable to boot up and run properly.

We found the antispyware software’s overall impact on its host PC to be disappointing. In our tests, Malwarebytes used an average of 90MB of memory while scanning. This is more than most of the comparable products we reviewed. Not only does the software monopolize memory, it also scans slowly at a rate of less than 10MB per second. This combination of heavy memory usage and slow scan speed yields sluggish PC performance, which will affect how well your computer can execute other applications during a scan.
Where the software fails in PC impact, it makes up for in ease of use. Malwarebytes is straightforward and simple to use, much more so than many of the other more complex applications in our antispyware lineup. The application removes much of the complexity of antispyware protection, with a clean interface that is easy to navigate.
Technical support is provided via email only. While we would have liked to see telephone and live chat support offered as well, our email inquiries to the manufacturer were answered quickly and the responses were helpful and informative.
Summary
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware proves it can effectively protect your PC against spyware, viruses, Trojans and other types of infectious malware. This antispyware software dominates available memory during scans, but if full protection from harmful threats is more important to you than a potentially sluggish PC, Malwarebytes could prove useful. Antispyware publishers who want to compete in the market should not ignore being tested by independent test labs such as AV-Test. If Malwarebytes wants to run with the big dogs, then Anti-Malware needs to be tested among its competitors.
